The Yale “Science of Well-Being” course on Coursera is free!

Near the start of the pandemic, Yale announced that they would be making one of their most popular courses, The Science of Well-Being, free online. I began the course hopeful and excited, but as I was working full-time, caring for my two year old, and in my third trimester of pregnancy with my second child, I’m not totally shocked that I didn’t get very far.

The course description reads as follows:

“In this course you will engage in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits. As preparation for these tasks, Professor Laurie Santos reveals misconceptions about happiness, annoying features of the mind that lead us to think the way we do, and the research that can help us change. You will ultimately be prepared to successfully incorporate a specific wellness activity into your life.”

How beautiful and wonderful and stunning is it that Yale decided to offer this course for free, knowing that the world needed it more than ever? Offering up something that will absolutely help others is planting a seed that will flower over and over and over.

Now that I have a renewed drive for intentional joie de vivre, I’m going to attempt this class again. I would love it if you take it with me, and share your thoughts on the course in the comments of relevant posts.
